All Good Things....

For any previous visitors to Casa Jovic, you'll be aware how beautiful, how mature and how unforgiving the hedge of Bougainvillea was around the pool area. Beautiful because for a few weeks of the year the flowers were absolutely stunning. Mature because it had been resident since the villa was built and unforgiving because the spines on the branches were pretty horrible to passers-by.
It is with a heavy-heart, tinged with more than a little relief, that I have to tell you that it is no-more. All of the hedging has been removed and the area cleared back to the fence. Whilst we were reluctant, the roots were impacting on the structure of the patio and at nearly 3 feet deep it was becoming more troublesome for those brushing passed it. Many a football had been sacrificed on its spines. Fortunately no children had been sacrificed during its life.
On first view it might now seem a little bare, but the area now consists of pots  containing more colourful, visitor-friendly foliage. Plus, the extra space is welcome.
